摘要	The protection of propellers and painted hull from corrosion in a ship is formulated as an optimal control model. We use a Gauss-Newton algorithm for solving the nonlinear model, and boundary element methods are employed for the numerical calculation. © 1996 by Elsevier Science Inc.
