Reliable communication protocols are used to maintain consistent state for cooperative work in the Autonomous and Decentralized Systems (ADS). Since many of the existing protocols are expensive and are not very suitable for the ADS, a new logical token ring based group multicast protocol is proposed. This protocol ensures total ordering and automicity of multicast messages in the presence of the component failures. In addition, the protocol also ensures that all nonfaulty processes belonging to the same group will observe a consistent view of ordered events affecting all cooperative components in the group.
