Abstract

The growing need for convenience in the manner people conduct their activities in the 21st century, has popularized the notion of Internet-enabled government services. Various governments now offer key services through the Internet, but what is still unclear, is the key to a successful e-government platform. In this study, therefore, an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was used to underpin the development of a conceptual framework used to examine the influence of six independent variables (perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, security, Internet infrastructure, reliability and convenience) on the dependent variable, the intention to use e-government services in Malaysia. The 230 valid responses in this study were the bases of the analysis, and the data analysis included correlation and regression analyses. The findings revealed that four of the six hypotheses were significant. Research and practice contributions of this study were highlighted including limitations of study and agenda for future research. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
