Abstract

Nowadays, mobile games become popular and make much revenue to both telecom operators and game providers. We can see many people who use their mobile phones or portable game consoles to play games anywhere. However, many mobile games are still stand-alone, so that players cannot play with others who are distant from them. The demand of network-enabled games for mobile devices is expected to be continually increasing. In order to target the sustaining growth of mobile network games market, Mobile Network Game Platform (MNGP) is proposed. The MNGP is a generic and extensible platform that is constituted of a set of servers (called AnyServer) to provide primitive but sufficient services for supporting mobile network turn-based games such as card games and chess games. In a network game, signaling control and session maintenance are essential and critical for game initiation and coordination. The Session Control and Management (SCM) service is proposed for the MNGP to address this issue. In this paper, the framework of the MNGP is first introduced and then the SCM service is focused. At last, a preliminary prototype of the SCM is shown.
