Abstract | A tiny city at the southern tip of the Pearl River, Hong Kong is full of paradoxes. On the one hand, it is modern and cosmopolitan, marked by the spectacular skyline along the Victorian Harbour, the three languages (Cantonese, English, and Potonghua) used in announcements in public transportation, and the spacious and efficient international airport completed shortly after the 1997 handover. |
