Prof. XU Baojun earned his Bachelor degree in Food Science and Master degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine Chemistry from Jilin Agricultural University, and PhD in Food Science from Chungnam National University, South Korea. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, FRSC and a Zhuhai Scholar Distinguished Professor.
His research area is Food Science, Phytochemicals, Nutraceuticals, Pharmaceuticals, Functional Foods, Molecular Nutrition, and Cell Biology.
Prof. XU conducted postdoctoral research work in North Dakota State University (NDSU), Purdue University, and Gerald P. Murphy Cancer Foundation in U.S.A. during 2005-2009. He did short-term visiting research in NDSU in 2012, and University Georgia in 2014, and followed by visiting research during his sabbatical leave (7 months) in Pennsylvania State University in U.S.A. in 2016. He is a Chair Professor, PhD Supervisor, and Program Director of Food Science and Technology Program currently in Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College.
Prof. XU is the grant recipient of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Educational Commission of Guangdong Province, Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province, and internal fund of BNU-HKBU United International College. He was listed in the world's top 2% scientists by Stanford University in 2021.
