Abstract | This theory chapter by Christian Aspalter focuses on two different streams of theories, first the Ten Worlds of Welfare Capitalism Theory, and then on the global importance of normative social policy theories that arise from this step forward in terms of this descriptive welfare regime theory (the Ten Worlds Theory). The worldwide ten ideal-typical welfare regimes are being explained and introduced again, while some recent updates have been applied/integrated, e.g., particular regime membership of countries around the world, in every corner of the world, covering almost all countries (over 500,000 population, plus Iceland). The normative part of this chapter then spins knowledge creation further by integrating the normative theory of Developmental Social Policy, as formerly developed by James Midgley and extended over the past decade by Christian Aspalter. |
